Research Associate - Double Haploide

Description : The position will be accountable for the R&D and field chemical analysis activities at the Laboratory of the Arica Research Center.

Main responsibility will be to follow the program´s supervisor instructions to achieve planned outcome of assigned tasks, either for research or production, promoting at the same time a safe working place. All activities will be in coordination and collaboration with planning, and execution leaders of seed production at the site, balancing priorities, and resources.

MAIN CHALLENGES

Research Activities :

  • Plan, coordinate and execute research activities looking for to enhance the efficiency of double haploid production and focus on reduction cost of the process. Also, will must prepare updating and final reports considering methodology and results with data driven decisions.
  • Implement new techniques, procedures and/or methodologies as result of research activities.

Chemical Analysis for field samples :

  • Coordinate and execute chemical analyses from field (Leaves, soil and water). Maintain a data recording accomplish with results delivery on time according field needs. Ensure high quality results and on time delivery to our clients.

Common activities :

  • Maintain the KPI control and cost analyses for research activities and chemical analysis.
  • Coordinate the necessary certification, maintenance, calibration, validation of the equipment to ensure the task quality.
  • Ensure RMS and safety procedures are followed in all processes, also considering accomplishing with the local government regulations.

Qualifications : What you will bring with you

  • University degree in agriculture, crop sciences, plant biology or biological sciences.
  • Minimum 2 years in Laboratory work activities directly involved on research work, preferably in seed production.
  • Experience working with diverse techniques such as spectrophotometry, microscopy, microbiological culture, tissue culture, others. Advanced techniques such as RT-PCR and Flowcytometry are a plus.
  • Background in descriptive and inferential statistics (basic level),
  • Advanced user of MS Office programs and other production, PowerBi is a plus.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English.
  • Require excellent organizational and innovative thinking skills with high attention to details and strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must be able to independently resolve production issues as they arise. Ability to calmly handle adversity and professionally deal with conflict.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently without supervision in a fast paced ever changing environment.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
